Admin Assistant

As an Admin Assistant, you will maintain and analyze records, files and information of personnel. You will also manage ration supplies, cookhouses and messes.

Accts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant, you will record and manage the accounting of pay and allowances, equipment, logistics transactions, public fund and cash flow etc.

Medical Assistant

You are made familiar with nursing and first-aid. You are also involved in the management of medical stores, dispensaries and ward supervision.

Logistics Assistant

As a Logistics Assistant, you are involved in the procurement, storage and handling inventory control as well as accounting of military stores.

Environment Support Services Assistant (ESSA)

This job involves maintenance of the firefighting section. It also requires that you ensure the upkeep of hygiene of Air Force Campus.

Ops Assistant

As an Ops Assistant, you will operate various systems of Air Traffic Control Centre, Air Field and Air Defence System. You will be trained in the operation of Radars, Display Units, reporting and tracking procedures of airborne weapon systems etc

Meteorological Assistant

If you are a Meteorological Assistant, you are trained to undertake weather observation and to maintain meteorological instruments. You are also responsible for plotting of charts, taking balloon observations and compilation of weather summaries.

Ground Training Assistant

As a Ground Training Instructor, you will train personnel on drill, parade, handling of arms and physical exercise. You are also responsible for organizing and conducting all games and sports activities.

Indian Air Force (Police)

In the position of the Indian Air Force (Police), your responsibilities involve assuming police duties and investigation of offences. You are also in-charge of maintenance of security.

Indian Air Force (Security)

As an Indian Air Force (Security) tradesman, you are to undertake special operations and carry out high-level security operations.

Musician

As a Musician, you will become a part of the Air Force Band. You will be trained to play different musical instruments.

ELIGIBILITY FOR GROUP “Y” WRITTEN EXAMINATION

Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central /State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Group “Y” Medical Assistant Trade Only- Passed 10+2/Intermediate/equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.

Note–1: Candidate eligible for Group X examination are also eligible for Group Y and would be given an option of appearing in both group X and Group Y exam in one sitting while filling up the online registration form.

Note – 2: Diploma holders are eligible to appear for Group X trades only

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Selection procedure of Air Force “Y” Group consists of mainly three stages. The first stage (Phase-I) is consist of computer-based written exam. Successful candidates of the first stage i.e. successful candidates in computer-based written test are called for Phase-II i.e. Physical Fitness Test & Adaptability Test. Third stage (Phase-III) is again for the candidates who have cleared first two stages, in this stage shortlisted candidates after the second stage are examined medically as per medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable to Airman entry.

The final merit list is prepared after the medical examination. The final result of selected candidates is displayed on the Indian Air Force website. Joining instructions are sent to students based on vacancies available as per the merit list.

PHASE-I

WRITTEN EXAMINATION

Air Force “Y” Group is a Computer-based Examination.

• The question paper will be computer-based with a total of 50 questions, each carrying 01 marks.
• The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type (multiple-choice).
• The question paper will comprise of two sections i.e. English and RAGA.
• The standard of the question paper will be as per the syllabus of 10+2 CBSE and Reasoning and General Awareness, the syllabus for the examination is available.
• Duration of examination will be 45 minutes.
• The candidates are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate. The Air Force reserves the right to determine the pass marks in each Section and in aggregate.
• Penalty for Wrong Answer. Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the question paper. There are four alternatives for the answer to every question. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

 

PHASE-II

PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST (PFT)

• Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection.
• PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 6.5 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups.

ADAPTABILITY TEST-I

For Group ‘Y’ all candidates who pass the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will have to undertake Adaptability Test-1 (objective type written test) which is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions.

ADAPTABILITY TEST-II

All candidates who pass Adaptability Test -1 will have to undertake Adaptability Test-2 as per policy in vogue. Adaptability Test-2 is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and are able to adjust to the military way of life

Phase – III

MEDICAL EXAMINATION

Candidates who qualify Adaptability Test-2 will be issued with medical appointment letter at respective ASCs. It can also be downloaded under candidate’s login on CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in for their medical examination at designated Medical Board Centre (MBC) on a specified date. Medical Examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards and policy in vogue on subject issue.

RESULTS OF AIR FORCE “X” GROUP

Results of the Air Force “Y” Group written exam is declared in 1-2 months after the written exam. The same can be viewed on https://airmenselection.cdac.in/. Being a competitive exam and there is no fixed cut off percentage for passing. Candidates who perform better are sent the call letters for Phase-II. The final merit list is prepared after the Phase-II and Phase-III, the final result is displayed on the Indian Air Force website. Joining instructions are sent to students based on vacancies available as per the merit list.
